The Cursed Sentence That Completes Itself the More You Try to Close It
In the early 2000s, when high-speed internet (ADSL) and PC bang culture were spreading explosively across Korea.
In school computer labs and neighborhood PC bangs where elementary and middle school students gathered at the time, a bizarre Japanese Flash video began to be shared in secret. It was a Flash animation created by a Japanese doujin creator, titled "Do You Like the Red Room? (あなたは赤い部屋が好きですか?)"
The structure of the urban legend was simple, yet fatal.
In a dark room, a crude red pop-up window suddenly appears on the monitor without warning. In the center of the window, a single sentence is written in crooked lettering.

When the user, thinking it is a malicious ad, tries to close the window by clicking the browser's "X" button, something uncanny happens.
The window does not close, and with every click of the mouse, the letters slowly begin to change.
"Do you like...?"
As if someone on the other side of the monitor is watching my mouse movements in real time and typing along, the sentence finally completes itself.
"Do you like the Red Room?"
