The widely known “Resort Baito” today is a long-form Japanese internet ghost story. It is often mentioned in connection with 洒落怖, that is, “scary stories that are no joke to the point of death.” Film promotional materials explain that the story was first posted in 2009 on the scary-story submission site ホラーテラー, or Horror Teller, then spread after being reposted on 2ch. In 2023, it was also adapted into the film “リゾートバイト.”
